CC102 - Day 4

Awhile back I "attended" an Online Card Class that Tim Holtz had put together entitled Creative Chemistry 101. Well, he's back with the second installment, Creative Chemistry 102 (CC102). I love learning new techniques, and I love getting inky, so of course I signed up. What's nice about the Online Card Classes is that once you pay your tuition, you have lifetime access to the class, files, videos, etc. And if you participate during when the class is what I'll call "live", you can ask questions and interact with others taking the course. FUN!

We are not allowed to discuss the whys and wherefores of each days lesson, so I can simply post my creations and tell you what the technique is called. So here goes...

Tinted Tinsel

One thing to notice on this tag is that I colorized the leaf after having stamped it on acetate.

Faux Patina

Ombre (an hombre for Ombre, heheh)

Mini Journal

A few posts ago I mentioned I had always wanted to get some of Wendy Vecchi's Art Parts to alter. Well, I finally got my hands on some and here is my little journal. I love to use butterflies on a lot of projects, and this one was no exception. The Art Parts that I used were the small book covers, and I also used one of Tim Holtz's small ring binders on the inside.

For the cover, I used Tim's Kraft Resist paper, coloring it with Dusty Concord, Broken China, Peeled Paint and Wild Honey inks. The binding is Peeled Paint Distress Stain on Ranger's Stickyback Canvas. I found a few butterfly charms at the craft store, and I completed the cover with some Broken China-stained grungeboard letters.

I am entering this journal in the following challenges:

Happy Easter and another Challenge

This week's challenge from Simon Says Stamp is inspired by an artist by the name of Wendy Vecchi. I had heard of her before, and I had always wanted to get some of her Art Parts to work with. So... when I saw the challenge this week, I was determined to give it a go!

For the Challenge, I took inspiration from Wendy's use of Distress Stains and Perfect Pearls. She demonstrated a technique on her blog whereby using two pieces of Ranger Manila cardstock, water and Distress Stains, we created two nearly identical backgrounds. No wasting of ink here! To finish and seal, I sprayed the pieces with Bronze Perfect Pearls mist.

Then I diecut them using the TH Tattered Florals die and layered them with a great TH button. I didn't have any Art Parts for the stem, so I handcut some TH Grungeboard, then painted it with black Adirondack paint, then stamped it with gold archival ink... SWEET!!

I cannot wait to order some of Wendy's stuff, because now I realize I don't always have to work with paper... I can play with other media... liking that alot!!

Happy Easter To All!!
